“How about instead of another fruitless debate about gun control, we have an intelligent discussion of the culture of hate, rage, and violence that plagues our nation? We have people out there that tell others to stock pile your guns, the POTUS is coming for you. The liberals want war. The country is falling apart at its seams. The end of days are near. You lost, so be mad very mad! People who aren’t exactly like you are unholy abominations that will deservedly burn in hell. We have news channels on tv and online that irresponsibly report fiction instead of facts. Scaring people on a daily basis for profit and ratings has become a commodity of its own. It’s funny to think how many of the great leaders in our world who preached peace, nonviolence, and love for thy neighbor barely had two nickels to rub but the talking heads of today make millions by spewing hate and fear en masse, often invoking the name of the one person who walked on this earth with His cheek ever turned. Now, I’m not a religious person but I understand that peace and love for one another was the message we all need to hear. How can that message fall to so many deaf ears? When did we decide it was ok to completely shed all respect and humanity for each other just because we didn’t get our own way? In wake of this tragedy how about we stop the search for blame and instead try to figure out how to coexist as one nation without hate? Im not a psychologist but this constant barrage of talking points, rage and fear we hear everyday must have some effect on those among us that aren’t stable as most. Instead of asking why and how could something like this happen? Who could do such evil things? Lets look inward instead and start asking the right questions like how much hate can we as a society tolerate in our everyday lives? What does a constant state of fear and paranoia do to people that are just hanging on mentally by a thread? How do we teach our children how to love one another even those who are so different from us? Until then, I believe the scenes I saw on my tv today and so many times in the past will unfortunately be staple on the evening news. So to all you hate mongers and fear hoarders I can only hope you resist the urge to politicize this tragedy and report it as it truly is, a epic failure of humanity to identify and overcome hate and rage.”
